Lutwyche

The client had purchased a property on the cnr of Lutwyche Rd and Chalk Street, Lutwyche, Brisbane, previously a Post Office and was looking for ideas on how to gain the maximum commercial advantage from its property. Architects Australia was able to resolve three main issues for its clients:

1. The reconfiguration of the rear of the site to increase parking from 3 to 15 vehicles.
2. Enlarging the floor area of the premises by over 50% while still complying with the Brisbane City Council’s setback and GFA restrictions.
3. Providing a street presence to the complex.
   By extending the major new vertical structural elements past the height of the existing roof and incorporating an oversized pediment, Architects Australia was able to transform a once insignificant little building into a readily identifiable landmark, which enabled our client to lease the building to a major Australian banking entity.
