A Brisbane company plans to build an apartment hotel in Fortitude Valley behind the RNA Showgrounds.
Property developer group Kildey has lodged a development application for the project, to be called Brooke Elise.
“Short-term accommodation in Brisbane is in extremely short supply”
2782sqm site on the corner of St Pauls Tce and Brookes St.
The property at 510 St Pauls Tce was bought by the Graham Kidley in 2001 for $1.43 million and has been vacant since.
It has frontage to St Pauls Tce, Brookes St and Exhibition St. It is expected to traffic access to the apartment hotel will be from Exhibition St.
The application before council is for a building with 199 apartments, as well as retail and commercial space, including boardrooms, function rooms, restaurants, a cafe and bar.
Brooke Elise will sit 20 storeys above the ground level on Exhibition St and have 204 car parks over three levels of basement.
If approved, the building is expected to take shape in the first quarter of next year.
Mr Kildey said the RNA had functions 48 weeks of the year and with other developments being built and planned for the area, there would be plenty of demand for accommodation.
“Short-term accommodation in Brisbane is already in extremely short supply,” he said.
“This is a building that has been designed specifically for that purpose – some of the apartments are proposed to be strata titled, but it’s been designed for short-term accommodation.« Back
